Join MountainStar Family Relief Nursery (MountainStar) and Pahlisch Homes as they celebrate a decade-long partnership in preventing child abuse and neglect in Central Oregon. The Tenth Annual Birdies for Babies Golf & Gala Fundraiser, set to take place on August 16-17, promises to be a memorable event filled with golf, auctions, dancing, and community spirit, all in support of MountainStar’s mission to support vulnerable children and families in Central Oregon.
Event Details:
Date: August 16-17, 2024
Locations: Golf at Broken Top Club on August 16
Gala at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on August 17
Pahlisch Homes stepped forward as the title sponsor of this event in 2014. The relationship with the Pahlisch Family, however, reaches back to 2005 when Beverly and Dennis Pahlisch started investing in MountainStar’s child abuse prevention services. “I have the opportunity to connect with many amazing members of our community, and Beverly and Dennis Pahlisch stand out with their deep understanding of our work,” Staley Micken, MountainStar’s development director shares. “They recognize the profound impact of our services and believe in our long-term mission of strengthening families. Often, we talk about the kiddos, but the work we do with parents is equally as important. Recognizing their trauma and providing them with the support and resources to make significant changes for themselves and their children is crucial. I deeply appreciate how much Beverly and Dennis understand the unique aspects of our services. Their commitment to our mission and their belief in our approach makes all the difference.”
Highlights of the Event:
- Golf Tournament: On August 16, tee off at the prestigious Broken Top Club. Enjoy a day on the greens while supporting a worthy cause.
- Gala Evening: On August 17, join us for an elegant evening at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The night will feature silent and live auctions, exquisite dining, and live entertainment from the Summer Grove Party Band.
MountainStar’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect through community support and therapeutic services. Their vision is to create a safer community where children can thrive emotionally, physically, and intellectually. The partnership with Pahlisch Homes has been crucial in achieving these goals, enabling MountainStar to expand services, enhance programs, and increase community awareness.

About MountainStar:
MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is a local nonprofit that provides child abuse and neglect prevention services for the most vulnerable children and families in Central Oregon. We are the only program in Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook Counties providing therapeutic classrooms, parenting education services, and family support targeted at protecting babies and toddlers who are at significant risk for abuse and neglect. We envision communities that support each parent’s effort to nurture their children’s emotional, physical, and intellectual development in a safe environment.
Now in its 23rd year, MountainStar has served over 5,500 children and their families. We provide 300+ hours of direct family support for every family each year and 98% of children enrolled in our program remain safe from abuse and neglect.
