The Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist (formerly known as the HUD Section 8 Program) will be open January 9 at 12:01am through January 13 11:59pm. This program is open to income qualified residents of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook Counties.
The one-year waitlist is organized through a computerized lottery. Applicants are asked to apply for the waitlist online at www.waitlistcheck.com/OR034; the link is also accessible from the Housing Works home page www.housing-works.org and the Housing Works Facebook page. Upon request, Housing Works staff will provide technical assistance for clients filling out the online application. Pre-applications must be complete for the online waitlist system to accept and process.
Housing Works will be offering technical assistance throughout Central Oregon communities:
January 9: La Pine Library, 16425 1st St., La Pine, 10am-2:30pm
January 10: Crook County Library, 175 NW Meadow Lakes Dr, Prineville, 10am-4pm
January 11: Jefferson County Library, 241 SE 7th St, Madras, 10am-4pm
January 11: Downtown Bend Library, 601 NW Wall St, Bend, 10am-4pm
Housing Works will be offering technical assistance at their office on January 9-13 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located at 405 SW 6th St. in Redmond.
Families may request paper applications as a reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations must be in writing and may be granted if it is deemed that an individual encounters barriers that do not reasonably allow them to complete the online application.
Additionally, the Mainstream Voucher Waitlist will open in February 2012 with final dates forthcoming. This program is open for income qualified non-elderly (under age 62) disabled heads of household. The one year waitlist is established on a first come first served basis.
