Students throughout Central Oregon Walk and Roll to School!

Join Commute Options, and local school students for International Walk and Roll to School Day. Across Central Oregon we will see students walking and rolling from many Middle and Elementary Schools.

Kate Armstrong, Education Coordinator for Commute Options, plans and implements a variety of Safe Routes to School programs in Central Oregon schools. “Empowering students and families to walk and roll to school not only reduces congestion on the road, but builds community and leads to lifelong healthy habits. It’s a whole lot of fun too!” says Armstrong

Started in 1997, the International Walk and Bike to School Day is a day for schools and students to celebrate walking and biking to school. Studies show that kids who participate in active transportation, such as walking and biking, lead healthier lives and, on average, perform better in school. Walking and biking also reduces traffic around schools and neighborhoods and allows families to get to know their community.
