Funds will support at-risk students at Vern Patrick Elementary School
The Family Access Network (FAN) received $2,000 from the Pacific Power Foundation to help disadvantaged children at Vern Patrick Elementary School in Redmond. This grant will connect children to crucial resources through their school-based FAN advocate that will help them flourish in life and in school.
“Pacific Power Foundation is committed to serving our local communities and has been supporting FAN services in area schools for many years. We are honored to be one of their community partners, addressing the needs of local children and families in Redmond and all of Deschutes and Crook Counties,” Valerie Yost, FAN Foundation Board Chair.
The PacifiCorp Foundation is one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in the United States. The foundation was created in 1988 by PacifiCorp, an electric utility serving 1.8 million customers in six Western states as Rocky Mountain Power (Utah, Wyoming and Idaho) and Pacific Power (Oregon, Washington and California). The foundation’s mission, through charitable investments, is to support the growth and vitality of the communities served by Rocky Mountain Power and Pacific Power. Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 25 advocates in 52 public schools (K-12) and early childhood sites in Deschutes and Crook Counties. The direct placement of FAN advocates within the public schools allows FAN to effectively reach disadvantaged children and families and connect them to essential basic needs.
