Prineville Invites Public Input on Transportation Future

The City of Prineville, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), is hosting a public open house to discuss potential transportation projects and programs for the City’s updated Transportation System Plan (TSP).

The open house will be held at Golden Coffee Company, 129 NW Fourth Street, in Prineville from 4:30-6:30pm on Thursday, May 2. The City invites the public to attend the meeting and discuss transportation issues and solutions with staff. Public feedback is critical to ensuring the updated TSP reflects the goals of the Prineville community.

For those unable to make the in-person open house, the City is hosting an online survey with links to information about the TSP that will be open from April 15 to May 17.

About the TSP Update:

The Prineville Transportation System Plan (TSP) is a plan to guide the City’s future transportation system. It is a City document that will recommend programs, policies, and physical improvements to streets and sidewalks to address current and future transportation needs. ODOT is a key partner in the TSP Update process.

What will the TSP accomplish?

  • Improves connections and safety for all people traveling in the City, including those who drive, walk, bike, use a wheelchair or cane, and deliver freight.
  • Addresses congestion and safety for all roadway users along S. 26 / 3rd Street.
  • Sets a 20-year plan for improving transportation to support Prineville’s growing population.

What is happening so far?

  • Developing draft solutions to address mobility and safety at the “West Y” and O’Neil Hwy / OR 126 intersections.
  • Developing draft solutions to address congestion and expand mobility for all travelers on Third Street.
  • Developing strategies to improve safety at high-crash intersec
  • Proposing expansions of street networks that support people walking, hauling freight, and riding bicycles.
  • Conducting traffic analysis to determine how draft solutions might impact future
