The second annual Furniture Flip Design Challenge will take place on Saturday, April 23 from 7- 9pm at Bend ReStore in celebration of Earth Day. The fundraiser is family friendly with a $5 entrance fee.
Seventeen local design teams in the community have taken the challenge of “upcycling” old furniture into works of art or rehabbing items into functional pieces of furniture.
Designers include Stemach Design and Architecture, Natural Edge Furniture, Bend Furniture & Design, Jeanne’s Junk, Grizzly Ridge Upcycle, Chris Gorman, Corie Ball with Larry Heath, Legum Design, Lisa Marie Rindfleisch with Julie Story, No Limits Concrete, Danielle Sullivan, Colene Lord with Adam Snyder, Lloyd McMullen, Lynne Cahail, Manly Metal Works, Lisa Fetters with Jill Byers and Sally Ragsdale-Smith with Jeffrey Smith.
They are designing pieces corresponding to the following themes: Bright Ideas, Inside Out, and What Was It, creating over 30 unique items for Furniture Flip Design Challenge. Their works will be for sale during the event, by silent auction, to benefit Bend Area Habitat for Humanity.
Food will be available for purchase by Shred Town Food Truck. There will be free beverages donated by Cascade Lakes Brewery, Dutch Bros. Coffee and Humm Kombucha, if attendees bring their own mug. Furniture Flip mugs will be for sale for $5 each.
DIYcave has partnered with ReStore by providing each design team a free monthly membership in their 3,000 square foot workshop. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite design for the People’s Choice Award, admire art and furniture created by the designers, and purchase the pieces to benefit Bend Area Habitat for Humanity.
