Bend RMA Chapter Scholarship Program Guidelines
Overview
The Bend Risk Management Association Chapter will award two (2) one-thousand-five-hundred-dollar ($1,500) scholarships for the academic year 2022/2023. The Risk Management Association (RMA) is a member driven professional association whose sole purpose is to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry.
Desired candidates will exhibit a commitment to professional development within the Central Oregon financial industry as well as a desire to take an active leadership role in the future of this industry. This is a scholarship, not a loan, and no future repayment is required.
Eligibility Requirements Applicants must:
- Have intent to work in the financial services industry following
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United
- Be enrolled in any type of college degree program with an area of study relevant to the financial services industry. Student to provide proof of enrollment.
- Have an out-of-pocket cost of $1,500 or more for their The cost cannot be fully covered by financial aid (except student loans may be reduced by this scholarship) and/or employer reimbursement. Student to provide documentation of student debt and/or of out-of-pocket costs.
- Have a minimum grade point average of 0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) overall.

Application Process
Applicants should provide a completed essay to Bend RMA Chapter that addresses the following:
- Brief essay (300 word minimum) outlining (1) the applicant’s aspirations within the Central Oregon financial services industry and how their education and this scholarship will assist in achievement of these (2) The applicant’s experience with the financial services industry thus far in their career/schooling and the impact that it has had. If they have had no experience with RMA, how do they foresee RMA contributing to their future advancement? Please send essay to bendoregonRMA@gmail.com.
Review Process
Applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of Bend RMA Chapter board members. Major consideration will be placed on the applicant’s current and future positive influence on Central Oregon’s financial services industry and how the scholarship will expedite and enhance this impact.
Conditions
Winners are encouraged to become an RMA member (currently membership cost is $30/yr for students; Bend RMA Chapter will cover membership cost for the first year). It is also encouraged that the winner attends RMA events that Bend RMA is hosting. These events are free of cost to the winner.

- Applications will be accepted beginning October 18, 2022 and due by 4pm on December 16,
- Scholarship winners will be notified by December 30,
