Improving lives and creating a more prosperous community … It’s something we all can cheer for and it’s what United Way of Deschutes County works to do every day.
Building on tradition, United Way of Deschutes County collaborates with the community to address root causes of the biggest issues affecting our community by focusing on education, income and health.
Last year, United Way provided opportunities in education, income and health to nearly 60,000 people in Deschutes County by raising more than $1.4 million to invest in resources to improve lives.
• Children were ready to learn, supported through their education and prepared for a successful future.
• People received job training, independent living skills and crisis help to help them become financially stable.
• Families had access to health services, including developmental screenings, food services and specialized therapy.
The entire community wins when children succeed in school, families are financially stable and people are healthy.
Ken Wilhelm, United Way executive director, said, “We have to keep doing better. United Way is poised to bring together people and organizations with the passion and expertise to make long-lasting, measurable change in our community.”
United Way campaign chair Eli Ashley recently announced this year’s campaign goal of $1.5 M and said, “Let’s work together in the United Way tradition to make our community better!”
Supporting Ashley this year are campaign team members: Bob & Clella Thomas, Joe Gardepy, Dave Markham, Carolyn Jarschke, Jacob Fain, Chip Reeves, Brian Stallcop and John Salzer.
