COCC Sees Enrollment Increase 31%

Enrollment at Central Oregon Community College in Bend increased 31 percent this year, and school officials say it’s a direct result of the floundering economy, according to an Associated Press story.

COCC says it is running out of faculty and classroom space and that enrollment will level off as the school nears capacity.

According to the American Association of Community Colleges, two-year schools enroll about half of all undergraduates in the U.S.

The average national annual cost of attending community college is $2,361, compared with $6,185 in tuition and fees for an in-state public school and the average annual room and board at a public four-year school is $7,404, according to the AP article.
