On March 10 the Risk Management Association, East Cascades Chapter is hosting a dynamic panel discussion on some of the challenges in store when dealing with one of America’s fastest growing industries, legal cannabis. Hear viewpoints from the lending and commercial real estate industries and legal ramifications to both.
Panelists are as follows:
Pat Kesgard, CCIM, President, Compass Commercial Real Estate Services
As president of Compass Commercial Real Estate Services, Kesgardis responsible for leading operations and working with company shareholders in all aspects of business development and strategy. A licensed principal broker in the State of Oregon since 2004, he specializes in commercial and industrial real estate sales and leasing. Prior to starting his real estate career, Kesgard worked as west coast regional manager for a national manufacturer and retailer. In that capacity, he oversaw franchise licensing, financial analysis, operations review, real estate acquisition and site selection.
Jeffrey Gardner, Senior Counsel, Ball Janik LLP
Jeff Gardner practices in the firm’s bankruptcy and creditor rights practice group, which serves clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. His principal areas of practice include representation of regional commercial banks and credit unions in creating specialized commercial loan documentation, negotiating and documenting commercial loan workout agreements and many others. Gardner has more than two decades of prior experience as a commercial banker and executive in charge of special assets for a major commercial bank.
Kevin Christiansen, Government Affairs Director, Oregon Bankers Association
Kevin Christiansen joined the Oregon Bankers Association in 2009 and serves as the association’s government affairs director. Prior to joining the OBA, Christiansen served as a committee administrator for two policy committees of the Oregon Legislature and practiced law with the law firm of Scott Hookland, LLP. His focus in private practice was construction law, commercial law and debtor/creditor law. Christiansen is a member of the Oregon, Washington and Idaho Bars.
