Christmas Light & Hot Toddy Ride with Bend, Oregon Bikes

Can you think of a better way to usher in the holidays than a jaunt down an off-street path with Christmas lights adorning your route? Bend Bikes will host the 2nd annual Christmas Light & Hot Toddy Ride Thursday, December 3. The tour is a leisurely, family-friendly ride along the Larkspur Trail.

Enjoy one of Bend’s best kept secrets: a four-mile off-street trail that runs north/south on Bend’s east side.

Joggers, walkers, strollers, lolligaggers and those who cycle are all welcome. Even little ones with pedal-free Striders or training wheels can happily join the fun as the grade is minimal and there’s only one street crossing at a quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac.

The Larkspur Neighborhood Association will make door-to-door requests of residents who border the trail to decorate their backyards and help light up the Larkspur during the month of December.

“The Larkspur Neighborhood Association is excited about our neighbors lighting up the Larkspur Trail for the holidays,” says Patricia Moran, LNA board chair. “We hope this ride will bring more attention to this gem on Bend’s east side.”

The event is free and kicks off from the Bend Senior Center (1600 SE Reed Market Road, Bend) at 6:30pm. Post ride festivities back at the Senior Center will include food and drink provided by Whole Foods Market, as well as a raffle with items from Bend Velo, Bend Electric Bikes, Hydro Flask, Cairn and the Jackson’s Corner east side location.
