Deschutes Children’s Foundation Celebrates 25th Anniversary in Bend, Oregon

Local nonprofit, Deschutes Children’s Foundation, is celebrating their Silver Anniversary. The organization was founded in 1990 by concerned community leaders who recognized the need for a central location for children and families to receive health and human services in Deschutes County.

From this effort, Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s first location, the Rosie Bareis Community Campus, was created. The organization later expanded to include four community campuses in La Pine, Redmond, and Bend. Deschutes Children’s Foundation gives rent free classroom and office space and no cost facility management to nonprofits that serve children and families. Over the last twenty-five years, hundreds of thousands of children and families have accessed services – sometimes from multiple organizations – at these community campuses.

To celebrate 25 years of promoting a community of services for children and families, Deschutes Children’s Foundation has created a new logo and redesigned website. “We are thrilled to unveil our new look to the community,” said Executive Director Kim McNamer. “We’ve been working to make our community a safer, healthier place for children and families for a long time. Through our programs of rent free workspace and free facility management, we help our partners manage lean budgets while creating a safe, welcoming location for them to provide services to their clients. Our new logo and user-friendly website more effectively communicates our story to the community.”

The organization will commemorate their Silver Anniversary with an open house at the Rosie Bareis Community Campus on Thursday, September 24 from 4-8m. The event is open to the public and will feature music, wine, beer, and light hors d’oeuvres. All are invited to learn more about the organization’s unique mission to promote a community of services for children and families.

DCF thanks the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community members who have made this milestone possible. “We are especially grateful to two of our longest supporters –Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company and Deschutes Brewery– for their generous sponsorship of our Silver Anniversary,” said McNamer.

About Deschutes Children’s Foundation
Deschutes Children’s Foundation manages and maintains four nonprofit service centers (called community campuses) in Bend, Redmond and La Pine, and donates the office space on the campuses to independent nonprofit and government agencies that directly serve children and families. This brings a collaborative mix of nonprofits together, increases access to services for children and families, and reduces the overhead costs for our partners. This means more services are readily available to the children and families of Deschutes County.
