Desert Sky Montessori Board of Directors Working to Open Two Montessori Charter Schools in Central Oregon

The board of directors is working to complete application to the districts of Bend-La Pine, and Redmond to partner in offering a Montessori education for grades 1-8.

If approved, work on two new Montessori schools offering from 300-600 seats will commence by the fall of 2015.   One school to potentially be located in NE Bend and the other in Redmond.  The schools will conform to the Montessori Method of education whilst adhering to the common core standards.

For the NE Bend campus, the school will house between 400-600 students which will  be chosen on a lottery basis. For Redmond, the school will house between 300-400 students also to be chosen on a lottery basis.

Work is currently taking place on the charter application with plans to have it completed and turned into the districts by the first of March.

The board is holding informational nights as follows:

February 2, 5-7pm Downtown Bend Library-Brooks Room

February , 19, 5-7 pm Ridgeview High School Skybox

February 26, 5-7pm Spectrum Office Building Suite 109

March 12, 5-7 pm Ridgeview High School Skybox

March 17, 5:30-7:30pm Downtown Bend Library-Brooks Room

Board Meetings are open to the public and are held as follows:

February 3, 5:30-7:30pm  Spectrum Office Building Suite 109

March 3, 5:30-7:30pm Ridgeview High School Classroom TBA

April 7, 5:30-7:30pm Spectrum Office Building Suite 109
