Forest Service Volunteer Interpreters Continue into September

Discover Your Forest, the Deschutes National Forest’s non-profit partner, wants to remind the public that they are invited to enjoy Volunteer Ranger patio talks every day and Hike with a Ranger programs four days a week at Mt. Bachelor through early September.

The talks began in June and will continue until September 4, 2016.  Volunteer Ranger Patio talks are given, 7 days a week, at 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Pine Marten Lodge. Visitors must purchase a lift ticket to get to Pine Marten Lodge and the talks are usually 20-30 minutes.  No reservations are required.

Another fun opportunity for the public is to “Hike with a Ranger,” which is offered Wednesday through Sunday at 2pm.  The program also begins at the Pine Marten Lodge and requires a lift ticket.  The hike is moderate and lasts about 40 to 60 minutes. People need to wear closed toed shoes and should bring water for the hike.

Information about the purchase of the lift ticket can be found at Mt. Bachelor’s website: https://www.mtbachelor.com/
