Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center announced that Volunteer Donna Young, in partnership with the center’s longtime therapy horse, Toby, completed a Century Ride this past Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Alliance Equestrian Center in Bend. A Century Ride recognizes dressage riders and horses whose combined ages total 100 years or more. In this case, Donna’s and Toby’s combined ages totaled 107 (ages 82 and 25, respectively).

To successfully complete a Century Ride, the rider and horse must perform a riding test at a show scored by a dressage judge. This feat is an amazing accomplishment for Donna, not only because this was her first horse show, but also because she started riding at Healing Reins just four years ago — at age 78. Congratulations are also due to Toby’s owner, Christina Bates, and to Toby’s sponsors, Bill and Gila Taylor.
