Junie and Tamas Bessenyei will open Massage Lifestyle Center (MLC) in December. “As long time Central Oregon residents, we have seen many respected employers investing in the people of our community,” explains Junie. “Many of them embody the Bend lifestyle and do not accept a subpar way of life for their business nor their employees. It is always heartwarming to see others love and respect Central Oregon as much as we do.

“Out of our love for Bend, we are expanding into a membership massage center that offers employers and families the opportunity to provide affordable discounted massage care for their employees and their families. With our active and often stressed community, current healthcare climate and economic state, there is an obvious need for quality affordable massage as well as affordable benefit offerings for employers to show their vested interest in their employee wellness in our active community.

“We have established Massage Lifestyle Center in order to fill this need and help Central Oregon live the massage lifestyle.”

Junie is a native Bendite and University of Oregon graduate. She has been working in corporate business for many years. First as a financial manager for Nestle (eight years) and more recently as an independent business consultant enabling Central Oregon small businesses manage their finances while taking the fear out of financial acumen.

Tamas was born and raised in Hungary where he grew up dedicate to becoming an excellent swimmer, becoming a professional athlete by the age of 15. He travelled the world with the Hungarian National Team receiving regular massage to ensure peak performance and continuous self-care. Coming to the States to swim for Purdue University he obtained his bachelor degree from, whilst also becoming four time All American. Retiring from competitive swimming, Tamas started coaching as he acquired his MBA from West Virginia University.

He then went on to study the family trade of massage therapy at Sage School of Massage and is now practicing performance and therapeutic massage at his independent massage practice in Bend. Tamas’ personal philosophy about massage is that it is a necessary part of personal care and integral in obtaining ultimate muscle health.

“We work our bodies hard and often create imbalances, therefore it is important to have customized massage sessions regularly in order to maintain or regain optimal balance,” says Tamas. “This philosophy has driven a successful practice partnered with many medical organizations in Central Oregon.”

MLC offers both corporate and family memberships providing affordable quality customized relaxation, therapeutic, sports and Swedish massage. MLC specializes in corporate memberships that provide deep discounted massage to all employees and their families. “However, we don’t want affordable massage to be limited to just those with corporate memberships,” offers Junie. “We offer family memberships for those who don’t have access through employer membership as well.

“We help employers provide affordable access to massage through a small membership investment so they can realize the huge return in morale and productivity. MLC helps companies, no matter their budget, offer massage as a supplemental benefit to their employees and their families.”

What does the massage lifestyle mean? A way of life where regular massage is as much of your routine as brushing your teeth. “We are not saying you need to get a massage after each meal,” says Junie. “However, many of us don’t think twice about taking the appropriate steps to provide proper care for our mouth, the rest of our body deserves this attention as well. Like proper hygiene, investing in your body care can prevent a multitude or diseases and discomfort.”

Experts estimate that upwards of 90 percent of disease is stress-relate. Perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into: decreased anxiety, enhanced sleep quality, greater energy, improved concentration, increased circulation and reduced fatigue. Massage can help specifically address a number of issues such as alleviate back pain, improve range of motion, ease medication dependence, enhance immunity, exercise weak tight or atrophied muscles, improved the condition of skin, lessen depression and anxiety, reduce scar tissue adhesions and swelling, relax and soften injured, tired and overused muscles, release endorphins, and relieve headaches.
