Mosaic Medical Receives Federal Oral Health Grant

Mosaic Medical is one of five Community Health Center organizations from Oregon to receive a $350,000 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand oral health services in their primary care clinics.  This funding will enable Mosaic Medical to offer integrated oral health care services throughout the Mosaic Medical system.

The HRSA funding will specifically allow Mosaic Medical to hire the necessary personnel to begin offering oral health services in all Mosaic Medical “hub” clinics beginning in the fall of 2016.  This includes the hiring of a dentist/dental director and two expanded practice hygienists.

The hygienists will be rotating between each Mosaic “hub” clinic location in Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville and patients will be referred to them for oral health education, cleaning and assessment by Mosaic’s primary care teams.
Mosaic’s new dentist will be providing services to Mosaic patients in conjunction with the imbedded hygienists through an innovative partnership with the nonprofit Medical Teams International.  Mosaic will lease Medical Team’s mobile dental van which will regularly travel between the Mosaic Medical main clinics providing dental services.

Mosaic Medical CEO Megan Haase states, “The overall health of our patients is negatively impacted when they don’t have adequate access to oral health services.  We are very excited about the positive impact this integration will have on our patients”.

Mosaic Medical is a local nonprofit community health center system with primary care clinics in Prineville, Bend, Madras and Redmond.  Additionally, Mosaic Medical serves the community with four school-based health centers and a mobile medical clinic program.  Our fees are based on a sliding scale for qualifying patients with limited or no insurance and we accept private insurance, OHP and most Medicare.
