Join Saving Grace on February 14 at Strictly Organic Coffee Company (6 SW Bond Street) at 6pm. Join men and women from around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the global movement to end violence against women and girls.

ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION women and girls. On February 14, 2013, V-Day’s 15th anniversary, men and women across the world will come together at various events to express outrage, demand change, dance, sing and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.

Strictly Organic Coffee Company is the venue for a special open mic event in support of One Billion Rising and Saving Grace, a local nonprofit that provides crucial violence and sexual assault services for Central Oregon families while promoting the value of living free from violence. The open mic, taking place on February 14 at 6pm, will feature local and regional songwriters and musicians singing inspirational music about and for women.

Saving Grace will also be honoring Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month with educational information and a fun Valentine’s Day activity at the event.

“This is a great way to come together and show support for the important women and girls in your life. It is wonderful to have local singers and songwriters share their talents, passion and support at this event,” said Lauren Biskind, Saving Grace Development Director.

Saving Grace provides confidential and free family violence and sexual assault services and promotes the value of life without violence. For more information visit www.saving-grace.org or contact Lauren Biskind at 541-382-9227.
