Bend Bontá – Natural Artisan Gelato, Finalist to Win Etundra’s $40,000 Grand Prize in 2nd Annual Dreamstaurant Contest

Bontá is one of seven finalists, chosen among hundreds of nationwide restaurant proposals. If chosen by a panel of judges, they would see their food establishment dreams come true in the form of Bend’s first modern day creamery.

Founders, Jeff and Juli Labhart began crafting their all natural gelato in 2010. The business was started after the Labharts returned from a one-year trip around the world and began selling their high quality product at local farmers markets and events.

The business expanded into pints and is now distributed to supermarkets throughout Oregon. A new creamery would allow the company to continue to grow their wholesale pint business, while at the same time providing their customers a retail scoop shop. Labhart says, “It has always been our dream to have a creamery where the public could watch our gelato and ice cream being made in true artisan fashion, while also creating a welcoming space where folks can enjoy a scoop any day of the year.”

Judging for the contest will be based on eight criteria, including social response. You can help Bontá win the grand prize by voting for their proposal online by January 30.
