OSU-Cascades to Hold Open House for Graduate Programs / Advising Sessions

Individuals interested in learning about graduate degrees in teaching, counseling and creative writing at Oregon State University – Cascades are invited to attend an open house to learn about the programs’ curriculum, application requirements and financial aid.

The open house is slated for Tuesday, July 25 from 5 to 7pm and will  take place at the Graduate & Research Center at 650 S.W. Columbia Ave. in Bend.

Admissions representatives, program faculty, academic advisors and current students will be available to meet with prospective students.

OSU-Cascades’ graduate teaching and counseling programs are nationally accredited.
The teaching program offers the opportunity to earn initial licensure at the elementary or secondary levels, with endorsements in elementary multiple subjects and in middle and high school language arts, social studies, math or science.

The graduate counseling program offers options in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. Students graduate with course requirements fulfilled for state licensing and national certification.

The MFA in Creative Writing is a low-residency program that incorporates instruction in the craft and profession of creative writing. Students each embark on a long-distance and individualized course of study with a faculty mentor, and twice a year join fellow students for intensive 10-day residences of writing workshops, lectures and seminars.

Fifteen-Minute Advising Sessions Prepare Adults for Fall Term Classes at OSU-Cascades

Oregon State University – Cascades’ personal advising sessions can prepare adults to continue studying towards a bachelor’s degree as soon as this fall.  The 15-minute sessions are planned for no more than two participants each.

Sessions are led by admissions specialists and can be scheduled online.  Sessions are available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on July 25, July 26, Aug. 8, , Aug. 29 and Aug. 30.  Sessions are available on Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees will learn about the application process and transfer requirements, and academic degree programs.  Admitted students can choose from nearly 20 undergraduate majors, and 30 minors and options.

In most cases, students can apply credits earned at a community college or other institution to a degree program at OSU-Cascades.

The fall term application deadline is Sept. 1.
