Oregon FFA and Les Schwab Tire Centers of Oregon have paired up to fight hunger in our community. Throughout the entire month of October, Oregon FFA and Les Schwab Tire Centers are continuing a statewide hunger initiative in order to raise food to supply the growing need in our communities.

The initiative is part of the FFA’s core purpose of Living to Serve which is part of the official FFA Motto, Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve.

Be on the lookout for activities and collections happening throughout your community. Everyone is encouraged to drop food donations at any Les Schwab Tire Center or FFA Chapter. Since the recession in 2008 the Oregon Food Bank has seen a 41 percent increase in the need of food box distribution.

A total of 270,000 people in Oregon per month received meals from the Oregon Food Bank and 92,000 of those are children. The goal of this hunger initiative is to surpass a goal of raising 250,000 pounds of food to provide to the Oregon Food Bank. For more information or to get involved, contact your local FFA Chapter.
