20 Years Providing Healthy Beginnings for Children

Healthy Beginnings, a local nonprofit that provides free health screenings to children from birth to five years of age, is celebrating its 20th year of serving Central Oregon.

“Healthy Beginnings would not have been able to accomplish this incredible milestone if it weren’t for our amazing community supporters including donors, volunteers, board members, sponsors and those that attend our events throughout the year,” said Holly Remer, executive director of the organization. “It truly takes a village to accomplish 20 years of success. Literally thousands of children have been touched by our services.”

Healthy Beginnings is gearing up for the 10th annual Girls’ Night Out coming up on October 10 at the SHARC in Sunriver. Registration is available online at www.myhb.org.

“There will be food, wine, beer and dancing along with a huge silent auction and a chance to win a raffle prize from one of our 20-plus vendors,” said Remer. “Bring your daughter or girlfriend and get pampered for the evening.”

In addition to providing free health screenings, Healthy Beginnings can also assist those seeking health coverage. The experts on staff are available to answer questions and assist with every step of the process including completing the state application.

Healthy Beginnings has a strong volunteer team and is always open to welcoming new volunteers to help at events, outreach efforts and screenings.
