Over $400,000 in Local Forest Projects through Title II Funding

0

The Deschutes and Ochoco Resource Advisory Committee recommended $411,000 worth of projects through the Title II Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act. This federal legislation encourages individuals, non‐profit organizations, local governments, and others to propose projects that restore watersheds decommission/maintain roads, control noxious weeds, thin tree stands, or otherwise improve the condition of the Forest.

The proposed projects can be implemented both on federal and private lands and have to benefit national forest resources.

This year’s funding directly supports projects such as noxious weed control, the Deschutes Children’s National Forest, youth conservation corps and forest collaboration. Projects will be implemented throughout the region but include McKay Creek, Glaze Meadow, and Suttle Lake.
