To date, six of the eight Bend City Council candidates have announced their plans to speak at a candidate forum hosted by the grassroots group Slower Safer Bend. It will be held on Wednesday, September 24, from 6:30-7:30pm in the Brooks Room at the Downtown Bend Library, 601 NW Wall St. The public is invited; the event is free and accessible.
This forum will be unique in allotting its time entirely to one of Bend’s foremost “quality of life” priorities–how to free our neighborhoods from the scourge of speeding cars. The candidates will present their views on neighborhood street traffic conditions and the role City Government could play in calming traffic and improving livability.
Audience members will be welcome to question the candidates. No endorsements will come out of this forum; candidates’ statements will be compiled and published on slowersaferbend.org.
