The Bend Casting Club is holding its second annual Bend Fly Fishing Festival at Tumalo Creek Kayak and Canoe on the Deschutes River on April 18, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and the festival is open to the public.
The purpose of the Festival is to showcase the fly fishing lifestyle to the broader community at a unique riverside venue; conveying messages of education and awareness regarding the sport of fly fishing, the art of the creative people involved in it, and the conservation community engaged in activities which forward the stewardship of our resources, all the while fostering fun activities and memories which these activities create.
Presenting environmental groups will broaden awareness around the issues facing our waters, social clubs will be offering avenues to become involved with the sport, and local businesses who are at the heart of it all will be promoting their wares. The Bend Fly Fishing Festival strives to succeed in its purpose each year by creating opportunity through this event.
There will be opportunities to learn the art of tying flies and making the perfect cast, along with areas both indoors and outdoors to participate in these activities first hand from local tiers and casting instructors.
Together with the items listed above, there will be opportunities to learn about the entomology of the river and tours of the Colorado Street Project where fish passage and multi-use principles have been used to enhance the river and its enjoyment.
The program includes a raffle with items furnished by a variety of local and regional businesses! We look forward to seeing everyone again this year and hope to meet some new friends, see you on April 18 from 10am-4pm at Tumalo Creek Kayak and Canoe!
Bend Casting Club is a component of the local Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
