Central Oregon Community College Foundation and the Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholar present Nature’s Trust, Climate Change and the Law: The Public Trust Doctrine and Oregon’s Climate Future by Mary Christina Wood, author, law professor and environmental law expert. Tickets are now on sale.
The presentation will take place from 7 to 8:30pm on Tuesday, May 19, in Wille Hall in the COCC Campus Center on the Bend Campus. Prior to the presentation, there will be a reception with Wood, from 5 to 6:30pm at the Broken Top Bottle Shop (1740 NW Pence Lane #1).
Wood, a Philip H. Knight professor of law and faculty director of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center at the University of Oregon, will discuss what the latest science says about the stresses in the global environment and the effect on Oregon’s climate and ecosystem. She will also present her work around the Public Trust Doctrine, a legal doctrine that holds that government at all levels is responsible for preserving and restoring the environment for the benefit of present and future generations.
The cost of the presentation is $10. The reception, which includes light hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, costs $25. To purchase presentation and reception tickets, go to www.cocc.edu/foundation/vsp.
