About the Lecture
Groundwater is vital to drinking water, agriculture and healthy ecosystems, but the ways it is replenished are changing. This lecture explores how shifts in climate, land use and vegetation affect groundwater recharge, using real-world case studies and modeling to show why understanding these changes is critical to sustainably managing groundwater resources
About the Presenter
Steven Loheide, Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor of Water Resources Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. An ecohydrologist, his research examines the connections between groundwater, vegetation and natural and built environments, using field data, remote sensing and numerical modeling to inform water management and ecosystem restoration.
