Cobalt Opens in Downtown Bend

Justin Cook announced the opening of Cobalt, a new restaurant and bar in Downtown Bend. Cobalt opens with a freshly developed small/share plate menu focused on regional and seasonal ingredients along with an extensive bar program serving up a host of craft cocktails.

Cobalt features a private gathering space with a group table and separate bar for special events.

The restaurant is the product of a group of industry friends coming together to produce a thoroughly delicious restaurant and bar where service and hospitality are a top priority.

Cook, owner of Kanpai Sushi and Sake Bar on Newport Avenue, and the kitchen team have developed a small/share plate menu that is eclectic, comforting, simple, regional and seasonal.

The bar program was curated by friend Mike Fleury from craft cocktail powerhouse Alembic in San Francisco and local bar manager Nicole Cheri. It features a number of offerings using quality ingredients, rock solid fundamentals and 2015 creativity. Rounding out leadership team is Scott Cook, also a seasoned restaurateur, who joins as Cobalt’s general manager.

“My hope is that Cobalt will be an asset to the downtown dining and lounge scene, that it will fully realize the potential of a great space and location and the collaborations of truly talented professionals,” said Cook.

The restaurant’s name and logo are inspired by cobalt the chemical element, whose atomic number is 27.

Cobalt is open Tuesday through Thursday, 4-10pm, Friday and Saturday 4pm-1am. The restaurant is located at 852 NW Brooks Street in downtown Bend.
