Beginning July 6, Alaska Airlines will add a Boeing 737-800 to their daily flight schedule from Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM). This aircraft, serviced by Horizon Air, will become the largest aircraft ever to service RDM, building on Alaska Airlines’ existing network from Redmond to Seattle and Portland.
According to Alaska Airlines, “The Boeing 737-800 is focused on fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.” The aircraft has 147 leather Recaro seats (12 first class, 30 premium class, and 117 coach) with more personal space, larger overhead storage bins, seatback outlets and access to inflight entertainment. “The Redmond Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Alaska Airlines new daily 737-800 service to Redmond. This new, mainline aircraft, will greatly enhance the already exemplary service provided by Alaska Airlines and will offer a new level of comfort and convenience to both the business and leisure travelers” said Eric Sande, Executive Director, of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce.
RDM and the Central Oregon Air Service Team (a collection of volunteers who help attract flights to the region) are pleased about the new aircraft. Having a larger aircraft will add more seats giving customers in Central Oregon more opportunity to reach other destinations through Seattle. “The greater Seattle area is a key destination market for Central Oregon, so COVA is thrilled to see Alaska Airlines will serve Central Oregon with the 737-800”, said Alana Hughson, CEO. “This large jet, with two-cabin service, is a big plus for our tourism and economic development initiatives.”
Zachary Bass, RDM Airport Director says, “We have done a lot of preparation here at the Airport to bring this larger aircraft to RDM. The additional capacity the 737 will add is a great benefit to the Central Oregon communities.” Roger Lee, EDCO, also stated that, “Alaska’s decision to bring in this larger mainline aircraft is both a strong signal of the company’s commitment to air service in Central Oregon as well as the strength of our market to support capacity growth.”
The daily Alaska Boeing 737-800 flight will depart from Redmond at 2:35pm and arrive in Seattle at 3:50pm.
The return flight will depart Seattle at 12:30pm. and arrive in Redmond at 1:40pm.
