The Bend City Council will urge a community response to bullying, harassment and hate crimes in a Not In Our Town Proclamation at the December 21 Council meeting at Bend City Hall, 710 NW Wall Street, Bend. The Proclamation will be presented near the start of the 7pm meeting.
Bend residents who have recently experienced harassment and bullying will briefly address the Council after the Proclamation is issued.
The Proclamation was proposed to the Council by Building Common Ground, a local coalition of organizations and individuals whose goal is to overcome oppression in Central Oregon, with special emphasis on racial justice.
It is modeled after similar proclamations issues in towns and cities across the nation, working with Not In Our Town (niot.org), a national movement to “stop hate, address bullying and build safe, inclusive communities for all.”
