The Central Oregon Community College board of directors awarded bids for construction of the new culinary building, equipment for that facility and construction of a new classroom wing at a special board meeting on Tuesday.
The largest of the bids was for construction of the culinary building. The contract was awarded to HSW Builders for $4,989,000. The Culinary Building will provide a state-of-the-art facility with three kitchens, a demonstration theatre and a 60-seat dining lab, allowing the Cascade Culinary Institute to train more than 100 students per year. Funds for this project are provided through the COCC Foundation Capital Campaign, a state grant through the Oregon Lottery and the COCC Capital Project Fund.
This bid also includes site improvements related to the Campus Village Mixed-Use project. Expenses for the site improvements will eventually be recovered through project revenues.
For the equipment, the bid went to Bargreen Ellingson for $706,656. This includes the equipment for the three kitchens.
For the new classroom wing, HSW Builders was the successful bidder at $1,717,000. This addition will provide much-needed classrooms and offices and will provide an elevator in the two-story building.
Funds for this project are provided through the Go Oregon! Stimulus Funds, General Obligation Bonds and Oregon Lottery Funds.
