Two Hooker Creek paving projects were recently named among the top 2009 paving projects in the State of Oregon by the Asphalt and Pavement Association of Oregon (APAO).
The parking lot of the Redmond Hooker Creek Equipment Rental and Supply store received a second place award in the highly competitive Commercial/Industrial Division. “This is the first commercial porous asphalt project in Central Oregon and we very pleased to have it recognized at the state level,” Hooker Creek Construction Division Manager Dave Vogt said.
The second project to be recognized actually received two awards. Highway 97 from the Highway 31 junction to Crescent placed second in the ODOT smoothest highway category and also placed second in the Low Volume State Highway category. According to Vogt, the difference between first and second place for smoothest highway was so close that it is virtually undetectable to a person driving on the roads.
Both Hooker Creek projects that received awards this year highlight the company’s commitment to producing more environmentally friendly asphalt products.
“Hooker Creek is leading the way when it comes to producing what I like to call green pavement,” Vogt said. “The Redmond Equipment Rental Store parking lot utilizes our porous asphalt product and the Highway 97 project is the first ODOT project in the State of Oregon to include warm mix asphalt.”
