COBA Gives Back To Central Oregon Homeowners

The Central Oregon Builders Association (COBA) announced the formation of the COBA Remodelers Ramp-a-thon. The one day event will provide free custom exterior access ramps to Central Oregon homeowners of low or limited income.

“A one day “Blitz Build” event, our first year goal is to build 7-10 ramps on June 13. These ramps will empower individuals with improved access, independence and safety and especially a better quality of life, said Mike Jensen, COBA director of communications.”

Interested community homeowners are asked to submit an application no later than March 2 to COBA. Each application will be evaluated along with an onsite interview and evaluation. The primary design criterion for an applicant is a maximum of 28” height or approximately four steps and lives in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.

Ramp recipient teams will be led by COBA licensed contractors. Each Ramp Captain will manage the entire process of the custom ramps from design, providing the materials and labor to completion.
Long active in giving back to the community, the COBA Remodelers Council formed COBA Remodelers Ramp-a-thon after hearing of the overwhelming success of the model in Seattle.

“We wanted a project which had a greater heart impact on the community, said Ramp-a-thon chair Mike Davis (of TMT Home Remodelers).  In the past we’ve done a lot of worthy projects, which impacted one or two homeowners at a time, but once we get Ramp-a-thon going we’ll be able to help a lot of people in a short amount of time.”

COBA invites interested homeowners, individuals and businesses to contact Mike Jensen at 541/389-1058 or mikej@coba.org.  Volunteers from the entire community are invited to participate.
