Oregon exports increased 23.7 percent in the first quarter of the year to $9.9 billion, which is at a faster clip than the U.S. export increase of 17.2 percent, according to the state economic forecast released last week.
The largest exporters were agricultural products at 82 percent to $1.66 billion; waste and scrap materials, up 72 percent to $315 million; and computer and electronic products, which increased 25 percent to $3.9 billion.
Canada is the biggest importer of products made in Oregon, accounting for 15.3 percent, while exports to Japan increased 54 percent and China’s imports were up about 30 percent.
