Awesome Bend announced the finalists who will vie for its next quarterly grant of $1000 at Pitch Night on April 19, 6-8:30pm at the Deschutes Brewery Tap Room in downtown Bend. The event is free and open to the public.
Finalists will present their ideas for making Bend a better place to live, work or play and a group of ten trustees who each donate $100 to form the collective grant will select the winner.
The finalists include:
Breaking the Grass Ceiling: female farmers mentoring at-risk girls at an organic hop farm.
Bend Senior High School Parenting Program: providing necessary baby items to teen mothers.
Empowering Clerks Network– bringing joy, humor and compassion to people through the unlikely power of paperwork.
Farm Kids: educating elementary students about where their food comes from.
Parkinson’s Disease Exercise Classes: providing free disease-specific exercise classes to those with Parkinson’s.
“This Pitch Night marks our first birthday,” said Pam Stevenson, the Dean of Awesomeness. “We are so grateful for all the community support we have been receiving and we’re going to have a special ‘Awesomeness Squared’ announcement to make in addition to hearing from our inspiring finalists this time.”
Awesome Bend’s mission is to inspire and support creative ideas to make Bend more awesome with money and mentorship to help turn them into reality.
