Awesome Bend announced the finalists who will vie for its next quarterly grant of $1,000 at Pitch Night on October 20. The event will be held 6-8:30pm at the Deschutes Brewery Tap Room, 1044 NW Bond Street in downtown Bend and is free and open to the public. Finalists will present their ideas for making Bend a better place to live, work or play and a group of ten trustees who each donate $100 to form the collective grant will select the winner.
The finalists include:
Bloom Project: will re-purpose flowers into bouquets for hospice and palliative care patients
Little Free Library: will build mini-libraries throughout Bend
Speak Your Peace: will bring simple tools for practicing civility to the Sisters community
Tiny Hey Project: will create a postcard writing exchange between neighborhoods in Central Oregon
Tis the Season: will transform vacant spaces into art exhibits during the holiday season
“Pitch Night is like Shark Tank for community good,” said Pam Stevenson, the Dean of Awesomeness. “The trustees were very excited about the quality of the applications we received for this round of funding. Our mission is to inspire and support those ideas with some money and mentorship to help turn them into reality.”
