Awesome Bend has announced the finalists who will vie for its next quarterly grant of $1000 at Pitch Night on October 18th. The event will be held 6pm to 8:30pm at the Deschutes Brewery Tap Room, 1044 NW Bond Street in downtown Bend and is free and open to the public. Finalists will present their ideas for making Bend a better place to live, work or play and a group of ten trustees who each donate $100 to form the collective grant will select the winner.
The finalists include:
- The Bend Butt Project – keeping downtown Bend free of cigarette butts
- Cold Weather Care Kits – assembling and distributing cold weather survival gear for the homeless
- Hope Bags – making and filling bags with personal items and gifts for women struggling with difficult situations
- Instruments in Hand – purchasing instruments to provide music lessons to those who cannot afford them
- Project Connect – the Green Bracelet Brigade- distributing bracelets to families and kids as a visual reminder of how to calm down and feel safe
“I continue to be awed at the flow of inspirational ideas we receive,” said Pam Stevenson, the Dean of Awesomeness. “People really care about making Bend better and we are honored to encourage and support them. This will be another feel-good Pitch Night.”
Awesome Bend’s mission is to inspire and support creative ideas to make Bend more awesome with money and mentorship to help turn them into reality.
