Basic signage that many businesses are missing

0

Lots of little things have to be put in place for a business to be able to run efficiently and become a success. It is all too easy to forget something important and end up inadvertently damaging your business.

Often, they are not obvious things. For example, if you were to be missing some of the signs that mydoorsign sells you could potentially be losing customers, making fewer sales or even breaking the law. We appreciate that this seems unlikely. But, as you will see when you read on, this could actually be the case.

Not having the right health and safety signage in place

It is surprising how many business owners do not keep their health and safety signage up to date or in good condition. Often, they only realize that there is an issue when they undergo an inspection and the problem is pointed out to them. In some countries, not having things like proper lit exit signs in place can result in heavy fines. It is not unheard of for venues that host events to be temporarily closed down while they fix missing health and safety sign issues.

If you have not already done so, it is a very good idea to update your health and safety checklist to include all of the signage you need. That way someone can periodically check that everything is in place. You can find out more about creating this type of checklist here.

Informational signs

Most business owners do not fully understand just how important informational signs are to the success of their business. For example, a surprising number of shop owners forget to update their opening hours sign for the holidays. This is really inconvenient for their customers. Quite a few firms no longer put them up, which sometimes can lead to them missing out on a chance to sell something to someone.

If a potential customer arrives early and sees that you are due to open in 20 or 30 minutes they will likely go for a coffee and come back. But, if they have no clue when you start work, the chances are they will simply leave and not come back.

Not putting up enough informational signs on the shop floor is another mistake a lot of business owners make. They tend to assume that their staff know what they are doing, so do not need reminding of things. In reality, they have a lot going on, so it is all too easy for important things to get missed. It also makes it harder for new members of staff who might be unfamiliar with certain processes.

Signs that stop people from getting lost

Nobody likes to get lost. It is annoying and a little disconcerting. So, it makes sense to put up signage to enable someone to find their way around your building or retail outlet.

Make sure you order the right type of signage

If you spot gaps, you only need to go online to order what is missing. It will not take long. But, it is worth reading this guide before you do so.
