Bend Area Habitat for Humanity is now recruiting qualified individuals interested in serving as the organization’s Executive Director.

Habitat is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to providing affordable homeownership and home repair services for low-income families and individuals in Bend and Crook County. Since it started its work in 1989, Bend Habitat has built 106 homes and completed 60 home repair projects, providing more than 500 children and adults with secure, healthy and affordable homes.

“Because of Habitat’s mission, it is a rather complex organization,” explained Darrel Buttice, Habitat board president. “First and foremost Habitat is in the business of constructing and repairing houses for low income families and individuals. It also is in the retail business with the operation of its Bend and Prineville ReStores that help generate funds to support Habitat’s work. In addition, it acts as a financial institution that provides a mortgage that families must repay. Lastly, Habitat has a social service component that assists families in working toward homeownership.

According to Buttice interested candidates must be able to demonstrate strong people management skills and the ability to develop, lead and nurture 17 fulltime employees in achieving success in all aspects of the organization.

Interested individuals can learn more about the position and acquire an application by going to www.bendhabitat.org/employment Applicants must submit their information by January 21, 2015. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.
