Can you think of a better way to usher in the holidays than a jaunt down an off-street path with lights adorning your route?

Bend Bikes will host the third annual Holiday Lights Ride Friday, December 2.   Our family-friendly tour will feature the Larkspur Trail: a 4 mile off-street trail that runs north/south on Bend’s east side.

Joggers, walkers, strollers, lollygaggers and, of course, those who get around by bicycle are all welcome.  Even little ones with training wheels can happily join the fun as the grade is minimal.

The Larkspur Neighborhood Association will make door-to-door requests of residents who border the trail to decorate their backyards and help light up the Larkspur during the month of December.

“The Larkspur Neighborhood Association is excited about our neighbors lighting up the Larkspur Trail for the holidays,” says Bill Munro, LNA board chair.  “We hope this ride will bring more attention to this gem on Bend’s east side.”

The fun kicks off inside at the Bend Senior Center (1600 SE Reed Market Road, Bend) at 6:30pm.  The warmth and cheer of the Bend Senior Center will be available during the ride for those who don’t wish to venture out on the trail.

After the ride, gather back up inside at the Senior Center for food and drink (courtesy of Whole Foods Market Bend), beer (courtesy of Deschutes Brewery) and a raffle. Raffle items include prizes from Bend Electric Bikes, Cairn, Hydro Flask, Primal Cuts as well as a grand prize of a $150 gift certificate from Bend Velo to go towards a J.Livingston bike build.

The event is free, but registration is required.
