First Pine Mountain Sports switched to LED lighting. Then they joined Pacific Power’s Blue Sky Program (which funds renewable energy projects throughout the state). Now they’ve decided to generate their own renewable energy using solar. To celebrate the new solar install, Pine Mountain Sports is throwing a party on their lawn and inviting the community to join them on August 12.

Why? According to owner, Dan McGarigle, Pine Mountain Sports not only enjoys our great outdoors but environmental stewardship has also become a high priority for the company. Installed in late July, the 18.5 kW PV solar system will cover at least 40 percent of the store’s energy usage and prevent 30,236 lbs of carbon dioxide pollution annually.

To celebrate the new solar install, Pine Mountain Sports is throwing a party on their lawn and inviting the community to join them. The “Rays (On) The Roof” celebration is set for Wednesday August 12 from 11am-6pm. During Rays (On) The Roof visitors can meet their local green energy partners and learn more about the green resources and money savings that they offer. Pine will provide live music and refreshments.

All Rays (On) The Roof attendees can earn up to $60 in Pine Bucks by attending, learning more and making a commitment to the local renewable energy partners who will be in attendance.

Sunlight Solar Energy, Bend Energy Challenge, Smolich Nissan, Next Level Burger, Commute Options, Energy Trust of Oregon, Pacific Power Blue Sky and Green Savers will be in attendance and providing money saving ideas and free tools to enable the community to use fewer resources at home.

Pledge to use more renewable resources and Pine Mountain Sports will reward you, on the spot, with Pine Bucks to spend in our store on anything you like. For each of our renewable energy friends that you engage with (details below) during our Rays (On) The Roof Lawn Party we’ll give you $10 in Pine Bucks (up to $70!**) to spend at Pine Mountain Sports!
