Bend Oregon’s iconic Hotel and Convention Center overlooking the picturesque Deschutes River will debut a new name when it reopens this spring to the public following a comprehensive renovation. The destination, which is currently undergoing a complete refresh to provide guests with a thoroughly refined and inspired experience, will reopen as Riverhouse on the Deschutes, paying homage to its fortuitously scenic setting.
Riverhouse on the Deschutes will have new hospitality talent at its helm, with Todd Cooley appointed as new general manager.
The Riverhouse team began an extensive $10 million renovation of the property late in 2015, encompassing a full redesign of its rooms and suites and a complete remodeling of the hotel’s popular public spaces. This included the reconstruction of its on-site restaurant, which will open as Currents, a reimagined dining destination. The refurbished Riverhouse on the Deschutes will feature polished accommodations with authentic Northwester flair, refined amenities and picturesque river views, warmly welcoming guests to enjoy riverfront lodging and experience the sublime of the High Desert life.
To lead the Riverhouse into its next era as Riverhouse on the Deschutes, Cooley will serve as general manager of the property when it reopens with its new face and name. Cooley hails most recently from Salishan Spa and Golf Resort located on Oregon’s Central Coast and boasts over a decade of seasoned industry experience.
Cooley began his career with Hilton Hotels Corporation and was recognized as the Oregon Hotelier of the Year in 2002 before moving on to work at Oregon destinations including corporate responsibilities with Red Lion Hotels.
An addition to its new name and physical renovations, the Riverhouse will debut new branding, a new logo and a new website to complete its full brand refresh in coming months.
Established in 1974, the 220-room full-service hotel and 36,000-square-foot convention center located overlooks the picturesque Deschutes River. Riverhouse on the Deschutes full service convention center will offer extensive meeting facilities with state-of-the-art audiovisual technologies. Its multi-functional convention center is the largest to be found in Central Oregon, accommodating over 1,000 guests for seated meals and more than 1,700 for receptions.
