Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend (BGCB) rebrands as Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon (BGCCO) as they expand services to La Pine. La Pine Parks and Recreation District (LPRD) and BGCCO are proud to announce the new partnership that will only strengthen both organizations’ missions and commitment to our community and youth in Central Oregon.
Camp Fire Central Oregon has provided after-school and summer programming to South County youth since 2024 and are passing the torch in La Pine to BGCCO beginning fall of 2026. Both organizations are excited about the transition and the opportunity to serve more youth, Kecia Kubota, Camp Fire CEO says of the upcoming changes, “We are incredibly proud of the vital programming Camp Fire has delivered to La Pine families over the last two years. This transition is a beautiful example of community organizations collaborating to put kids first. While we hand off the afterschool program in La Pine to BGCCO, our commitment to Central Oregon youth remains as strong as ever as we focus our energy on our thriving programs at Three Rivers School and throughout Central Oregon.” Registration for Three Rivers School’s afterschool program opens on Sunday, June 7.
Afterschool programming by BGCCO in La Pine will begin with the 26/27 school year and be offered at the La Pine Community Center and cost $75 Per week. Transportation will be provided from Rosland Elementary along with walking support from La Pine Elementary to BGCCO. Financial aid is available, and services will run M-F until 6:30pm. “We are thrilled to open the doors of a Boys & Girls Club in La Pine once again,” BGCCO Board Chair Daneille Rosenfield said. “This community has so much to offer its young people, and starting this September, kids and families will have a dedicated, safe place to learn and grow after school. None of this would be possible without our partnership with La Pine Parks & Recreation. This is what community looks like, neighbors coming together to invest in our kids.”
LPRD is also excited about this transition and the additional support for Central Oregon kids, with Wynn Malikowski, current LPRD facilities director, stating, “The Board and I are over the moon with this partnership. Partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon to provide programming and youth enrichment for elementary to high school kids is something every community desperately needs. The Boys and Girls Club has been the staple and leader in this category since 1860. This partnership will bring back the sounds of children in the community center daily and offer the parents in La Pine a low-cost option to provide after-school programming and enrichment that only The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon can provide.”
BGCCO hopes to expand into additional Central Oregon communities in the future and as CEO Michael Baker says, “The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon is committed to serving more members, more often, with deeper impact.”
