The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon (BGCCO) announce the grand opening of its new La Pine afterschool program hosted at The La Pine Community Center, 16405 First St. in La Pine.
Designed specifically to serve students from La Pine Elementary, Rosland Elementary and La Pine Middle School, the program aims to provide local families with a safe, affordable and engaging environment for youth after the school bell rings.
The new program directly addresses the growing demand for reliable working-family support in La Pine. BGCCO staff will safely supervise and walk La Pine Elementary students directly to La Pine Club, while BGCCO transportation will be provided for Rosland Elementary students.
Operating every school day until 6:30pm, the program provides structured grade-grouped activities, academic support, STEM projects, creative arts and active play.
To celebrate the launch, BGCCO is offering special enrollment promotions: the first 36 students to register will have enrollment fees (a $25 value) completely waived, and the entire first week of programming (Wednesday, September 9-Friday, September 11) will be free ($45 in complimentary programming).
BGCCO invites local families, partners, and community members to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, September 18, 2026. Guests will begin gathering at 2:45pm, with the ribbon cutting taking place at 3pm at the La Pine Club.
“Expanding into La Pine allows us to directly support working families who need safe, high-quality afterschool care they can trust,” said Michael Baker, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon. “Every child deserves an afterschool environment filled with fun, discovery, and support. Bringing our programs to La Pine delivers both — offering safe, high-quality care for working families while unlocking exciting new opportunities for La Pine kids.”
The program’s daily curriculum combines fun and foundational skill-building, including:
- Academic Support (“Power Hour”): Dedicated academic assistance, reading support and staff tutoring.
- STEM & Creative Arts: Hands-on science experiments, robotics, building challenges and art exploration.
- Health & Active Recreation: Team sports, cooperative games and social-emotional wellness guidance.
- Flexible Schedules & Extended Hours: Open Monday through Friday until 6:30pm to support working parents’ schedules.
BGCCO is utilizing space at The Community Center through local facility support to ensure La Pine youth have access to outstanding enrichment activities in a centralized, accessible location.
Registration for the La Pine Afterschool Program is now open for the 2026-2027 school year. Families can enroll by creating an account on the BGCCO MyClubHub Family Portal and selecting the La Pine Afterschool Program. While the first 36 members will pay $0 in enrollment fees, standard annual youth memberships are $25, and financial assistance and scholarships are always available to ensure no child is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.
