Building a Safer Central Oregon

0

Intimate partner violence and sexual assault directly affect Central Oregon’s workforce, businesses, and economy. Across our region, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime. They are our employees, clients, neighbors, and colleagues.

The economic strain on businesses is significant. The CDC estimates the average lifetime cost per victim exceeds $103,767 for women and $23,400 for men, driven largely by lost productivity, healthcare costs, and absenteeism. Domestic and sexual violence account for nearly 8 million lost days of paid work annually — the equivalent of over 32,000 full-time jobs. When employees face abuse, the resulting safety concerns, missed work, and job turnover impact entire teams.

Essential Community Infrastructure

When a crisis occurs, specialized resources must already exist. Saving Grace provides that essential safety net across Central Oregon — offering emergency shelter, a 24-hour helpline, legal advocacy, and crisis support that empower individuals who have experienced abuse to achieve safety and stability.

Crucial Partners in a Healthy Community

Local businesses are vital to sustaining this infrastructure. Every company has unique strengths, and there are flexible ways to partner with Saving Grace:

  • Financial Giving & Sponsorships: Direct contributions or program sponsorships funding emergency shelter nights and 24/7 helpline operations.
  • Capability Matching: Leveraging core business services — such as lodging, legal aid, or fleet support — to meet direct client needs.
  • Employee Engagement: Hosting workplace giving campaigns, donation drives, or awareness events.

By partnering with Saving Grace, local businesses protect their workforce, strengthen economic stability, and help create a safer, healthier Central Oregon for everyone.
