The City of Bend wants to inform you of a proposed change to business registration fees. The proposed change to the City of Bend Fee Schedule would take effect on July 1, 2026, and is on the City Council meeting agenda for presentation on June 3 and adoption on June 17.
Business registration fees support the City’s Business Advocacy Fund and Economic Development Program. This program supports business development, the Bend Economic Development Advisory Board, small business grants and permitting assistance, and other programs that relate directly to supporting businesses in Bend.
The proposed change shifts the flat registration fee to a structure that scales with business size. This aligns Bend with methods used in other Oregon cities, better positions the City to meet economic development goals and allows for more local business support and advocacy.
Businesses with fewer than six employees will see a $6 increase to the annual business registration fee ($94 to $100). An additional $5 per employee will be charged for the 6th employee to the 125th employee. The table attached shows the new fee for businesses of select sizes.
Your initial business registration included an input for number of employees. When your annual registration becomes due, the renewal through the online Permit Center Portal will include a field to edit the number of employees working in Bend (full-time and part-time). This input will determine your business registration fee, so it is important that you review the field and update annually during renewal, if necessary.
No action is necessary at this time. This notice is only intended to inform you about a change in the fee schedule that may impact you at the time of your annual renewal. If you have questions or concerns about the fee schedule, please email us at businessregistration@bendoregon.gov.
