In the continued effort to build a safe network to encourage biking and walking in Redmond, the City of Redmond Bicycle and the Redmond Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is looking for volunteers to help conduct its annual bicycle and pedestrian counts. After establishing a baseline of bicycle and pedestrian users in the community four years ago, this year’s counts will measure the impact of physical improvements made to the bicycle and pedestrian network, and the community’s awareness of them. The annual count also helps the committee better understand the needs for future improvements.
Volunteers are needed for two hour shifts, to sit at designated locations and count users on Thursday, September 14, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and/or Saturday, September 16, from noon to 2 p.m. Training and safety gear will be provided. Volunteers will be treated to a free pizza party! Thank you and please pass this on to others.

The purpose of the BPAC is to increase pedestrian utility and bicycle ridership in Redmond – to encourage more people to bike and walk around Redmond as a means of exercise, sustainability and community. BPAC represents all bicycle and pedestrian users in Redmond, both current and future by advocating for the development of additional bike and pedestrian facilities that are user friendly, inviting and compelling, reviewing transportation projects from the viewpoint of bicycle and pedestrian users and spearheading encouragement and educational activities.
