As part of its commitment to community service through helping others, Cascade Custom Pharmacy in SW Bend will sponsor an End of Summer Community Blood Drive conducted by the American Red Cross on Friday, September 4 from 12-5pm – giving the Bend community an opportunity to help support those in need. The blood drive is open to the public.
Every day in the United States, approximately 44,000 pints of blood or 38,000 blood donations are needed to give a newborn, a child, a mother or a father, a brother or a sister another chance at life. Every donation may help save up to three lives, which means nearly every two seconds someone needs blood.
Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, (a 16-year old may donate blood with written parental consent, there is no upper age limit for donating blood), have a minimum weight of 115 pounds and have not donated within 56 days. Many health conditions and medications DO NOT prevent someone from donating blood. People taking insulin, blood pressure, thyroid and cholesterol medications, aspirin, antidepressants and hormone replacement can still give blood.
Although walk-ins are welcome, interested participants are encouraged to sign-up by simply visiting Cascade Custom Pharmacy located in the Brookswood Meadow Plaza, 19550 Amber Meadow Drive in SW Bend or by calling 800.RED.CROSS or registering online at www.redcrossblood.org.
