Central Oregon Community College Partners with ESPACE Labs to Fill the Gap

COCC has formed a partnership with ESPACE Labs to offer five technology courses for the fall term published in the Community Learning Booklet. The classes will be held at 48 Bridgeford Blvd in Bend.

The five courses being offered are:
Introduction to Linux
Introduction to Arduino
Basic Electronics 101
Product Development
Raspberry Pi.

All these courses can be ordered through the COCC website, www.cocc.edu and on ESPACE’s website at www.espacelabs.com. ESPACE Labs will independently offer the following courses: Autodesk Fusion 360, Solder School, Introduction to Python and a class on Successful Selling Strategies.

ESPACE Labs mission is to assist in the economic development of electronic and electro-mechanical startup companies in Central Oregon. ESPACE Labs sees themselves as a conduit for creating  an environment where entrepreneurs and inventors can offer new products and services taking
advantage of the exploding revolution of microcomputer and microprocessor technology. Along with that, Robson says “the cost and advancements in sensor technology are creating many opportunities for new startups in the medical, energy, robotics, UAV, manufacturing, home health and a variety of other business sectors worldwide.

ESPACE has four major revenue sources for their business: 1) An engineering lab offering a host of testing equipment along with a leading edge 3D printer. The memberships available can range anywhere from $50/month to $300/month depending on the size of the entity along with a monthly, quarterly or annual membership commitment. 2) The educational courses are are stimulated by some real world hands on application of theory presented to students taught by very competent instructors. 3) Business mentoring for high-tech startups is provided for by a own stable of experts as well as experienced board of advisors. 4) Becoming a source for a variety of companies that require some custom design engineering skills in a timely manner.

ESPACE is a startup that opened its doors a little over a year ago and hopes to flourish in a world where technology is taking on a more significant role in our society with every passing day. They want to help individuals and companies alike to be more productive and offer greater value
to the consuming public. On a more macro level Co-founder David V. Robson says, “we want to create a ecosystem in Central Oregon where we can create more job diversity thru building on high technology and the Internet of Things.
