Melissa Atillo began her career in fashion and design graduating from FIDM Los Angeles in 1999. Atillo then worked in a sewing factory designing a private label action sports junior’s line. Next, she put together hundreds of technical menswear garments with Volcom. Eventually, as a third generation furniture maker, Atillo became creative director of her family’s furniture business while simultaneously designing her own women’s organic clothing line.
Currently, Atillo is excited to be a part of the Bend community in many facets, especially through the unique offerings and Boho style she shares at Lost Season Supply Co.
To take in all the intricacies, perusing is about the only speed possible for viewing the merchandise at Lost Season. From the leather bags, vintage fringe jackets, western wool hats, greeting cards, blankets and jewelry, to the clothing (both designer and emerging label), every item presents as hand selected. It isn’t surprising the owner, Melissa Atillo, has spent many years in fashion and design.
Despite her extensive background working in the industry, Atillo says “I’ve always known that I’d open a brick and mortar shop and online store. I wanted a place where I could share my love for vintage, Native made turquoise jewelry, emerging designers and local artists.”
In regards to the name she explains, “With my eclectic fashion taste, a ‘lost season’ seemed like the right name to fit in everything.”
Quitting their conventional lives five years ago, Atillo and her husband started traveling everywhere. They stumbled upon Bend in the process and “have loved calling it home for two and a half years.”
As soon as the couple established themselves, Atillo says “I found a little discreet spot in the Maker’s District and dove right in. The spirit of the Maker’s District suits the mood of Lost Season nicely.”
Atillo emphasizes “the look of the store has a young, free spirit, modern western-boho vibe with a love of nature and art.”
While fashionistas can appreciate the eclectic and edgy style of goods, financially careful shoppers will approve of the affordability.
Atillo notes, “People have been loving our price point.”
